Mosh pit or red carpet – Rock Chics dress in a style all their own. The rock chick look has been a staple trend since the days of the Rolling Stones, coming and going through fashion fazes. It’s edgy, it can be hard, it can be disheveled and relaxed – it’s about expressing your individuality. I am a fan of this look, with most of my own accessories being more heavy and masculine. Not hard-core, but then I worship the sexy, rebellious of a committed die-hard rocker.

There is no particular dress

s code for the Rock Chick look. However, there are some rebel-yelling tricks that will have you making a unique statement in the pit. Here’s some tips; from hair to shoes and nails to frocks, and you don’t even need an electric guitar.

  • The rock chic look perfectly fits the skinny jean (or leather – goes without saying!). Denim is versatile enough to wear both during the day and while out on the town at night. Whether your jeans are a dark or faded out – colour is up to you. Distressed or ripped can also be styled in.
  • Make a statement with your SHOES. It doesn’t matter what type of footwear you wear, as long as it grabs attention. Good rock chic shoe choices include biker boots, bright stilettos, platform stilettos, knee-high boots will give you Kate Moss allure, and skate shoes (converse or high tops).
  • Dress in the simplicity of a T-shirt or tank top. Devoted fans opt for a t-shirt that features their fave band. Or 80′s creative tees, with art patterns, graphics and prints. And maybe grab your favourite hoodie. The man tailored vest or blazer works superbly too.
  • Not to forget makeup! Would Avril be Avril if she didn’t have dark-rimmed eyes? Smudge black eyeliner top and bottom lids. Paint your nails. Black is always spot on, but the coolest shade to paint your talons this season is anything fluoro. Yep, fluoro. Vibrant nails scream for attention and work perfectly with your black threads.
  • I would be in favour of statement shoes over jewelry. A knuckle-duster clutch. Viola! Keep jewelry minimal and ensure that any pieces are strong and bold. Leather and silver, studs & spikes – no chandeliers please!

All you need to do now is warm up your voice and you’re ready to belt out, “Hey, hey, you, you, I don’t like your girlfriend…..”

I have been shoe-obsessed for the greater part of my life! From stick figures with elaborately illustrated heels as a child, to my first part-time job in a shoe boutique, to a Cinderella tale of marrying into a 'shoe' family! I was a destined cobbler. The last 20 years have been dedicated to footwear design. I blend my knowledge of colour, material and form to create silhouettes that evoke glamour and elegance. I draw every sketch, select materials and finalise each construction detail that produces all ShoeSales.com.au shoes. I do this with passion - appealing to conservative, eclectic and adventurous personalities and tastes. My philosophy “give a girl the right pair of shoes, and she can conquer the world!” Google Plus
