Spring/summer 2011 embraces a 90’s grunge revival. Almost – Grunge vs. Glam – if you’re not doing one you should be doing the other!

The updated grunge is really cute and easy for anyone to pull off. Think effortlessly beautiful with perfectly disheveled hair.

To pull off this look, you’ll need to pair your favorite tomboy looks with pretty feminine pieces. Plaids, floral prints, layered jersey & lace tights – give an outstanding grunge look boasting a comfortable edge.

Colour palette: black, white, grey, dark green, brown and blue. Wear your hair long and natural; add small braids, headbands for fun.

Flannel shirts are key for grunge. Wear them buttoned, unbuttoned or tied around the waist. Printed tee a must-have!

Skip the 90’s baggy jean and go for slim cut or skinny.

To tie together the entire look, go for flat points, lace ups or combat boots. Although, a pure, black pump – completely sharpens the look.

Don’t be afraid to mix prints, just keep the prints in the same color palette. Girls, try a feminine floral dress under a flannel with some combat boots or some skinny jeans with a loose, off-the-shoulder rock band tee.

Think you get the idea? If you’re not quite there yet, put on your favorite Nirvana or Veronicas tunes and check out these photos for inspiration.

I have been shoe-obsessed for the greater part of my life! From stick figures with elaborately illustrated heels as a child, to my first part-time job in a shoe boutique, to a Cinderella tale of marrying into a 'shoe' family! I was a destined cobbler. The last 20 years have been dedicated to footwear design. I blend my knowledge of colour, material and form to create silhouettes that evoke glamour and elegance. I draw every sketch, select materials and finalise each construction detail that produces all ShoeSales.com.au shoes. I do this with passion - appealing to conservative, eclectic and adventurous personalities and tastes. My philosophy “give a girl the right pair of shoes, and she can conquer the world!” Google Plus
